EASTON, Mass. (October 9, 2010) – The Stonehill College volleyball team notched their third Northeast-10 victory of the week on Saturday, sweeping Saint Michael’s College 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-16) at home.

Senior Justine Thompson (Merrimack, N.H./Bishop Guertin) anchored the Stonehill defense, amassing a season-high 30 digs, and freshman Kirsten Arvidson (Andover, Mass./Andover) notched a game-high 10 kills. Freshman Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) added nine kills and 12 digs.

Saint Michael’s was led by seven kills from freshman Chelsey Covitz (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) and 21 digs by sophomore Courtney Dunne (Hopkinton, Mass./Bancroft School).

The second set was tied six times early on, but the Skyhawks pulled away late behind five kills from Huselton and four from senior Erin Johnson (Centerville, Mass./Barnstable), before Arvidson landed a clutch kill to earn a sideout and she and Huselton put away the final two points.

The Skyhawks found themselves in a 14-9 hole midway through the third set, but put together a seven-point run to climb back to a 16-14 lead, and allowed the Purple Knights just two more points on the way to a 25-16 final score.
