EASTON, Mass. (September 8, 2018) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 42 in the most recent Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II rankings, opened defense of its back-to-back Northeast-10 Conference regular season championships with a 7-0 sweep of Saint Michael's College in NE10 women's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts tonight.

Junior Alexandra Vo and sophomores Isabelle Porter and Bethany Hammond led the double-winners for Stonehill, which has won 14-straight NE10 regular season matches dating back to the 2016 season and 25 of 26 going back to 2015. Porter and Hammond teamed up for a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, which clinched the doubles point for the Skyhawks and then Porter , ranked No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA East Region rankings, sewed up the match with her 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles against Saint Michael's junior Abby Ramsey.

Hammond also picked up a singles win for Stonehill, adding a 6-4, 6-0 decision over freshman Brittany Katz at No. 4 singles. Vo and junior Annelise Howick, ranked No. 9 in the Oracle/ITA East Region doubles rankings, completed the sweep of the three doubles matches with their 6-4 decision at No. 1, holding off a Saint Michael's tandem of Ramsey and junior Caroline Sumner that reeled off four-straight games to pull within one after dropping the first five. Vo later contributed a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles against senior Margaret de Pont.

Junior Caroline Rayand freshman Samantha Ormesher earned Stonehill's first doubles win with their 6-1 victory at No. 3.
