Brown recognized for seventh and eighth career shutouts
EASTON, Massachusetts (October 15, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team, ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches' East Regional poll saw junior Kaitlin Brown earn her second Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor, as announced by the league today.
Brown tallied her seventh- and eighth-career shutouts after posting a 3-0 victory over Merrimack College and 1-0 overtime win over Adelphi University. During the month of October, the Skyhawks have continued a four-game winning streak and the junior has been posted in net for all of them.
She totaled six saves against the Warriors and seventh against the Panthers this week.
Brown earned her first Goalkeeper of the Week honor after Stonehill's second 2-0 week, earning victories over Molloy College, 1-0, and the College of Saint Rose, 2-0. The team kicked off the season with a 4-0-0 overall record and a 1-0-0 Conference record, giving them the best start since 2016, when the team went 15-6-1.
After seeing her first-collegiate start in net last year, Brown has kicked off this season with four of her six-career shutouts. The junior posted six saves against the Golden Knights and two versus the Lions.
In the first week of play, the Walpole, Massachusetts native assisted the Skyhawks to defeating Nyack College 5-0 and blanking NYIT 3-0 in the East Region Crossover Cup.
In NE10 rankings, Brown is tied for first in wins (10), second in shutouts (6), third in saves (74), ninth in save percentage (.789), and 10th in goals against average (1.35).
Stonehill (10-4, 7-4 NE10) travels to Manchester, New Hampshire on Tuesday, October 16 to face Saint Anselm College (7-5, 7-3 NE10), who the Skyhawks are tied with in the standings for a 6:30 p.m. start time on Melucci Field.
