In the two games, the Setters outhit the Skyhawks 15-8

PLEASANTVILLE, New York (March 24, 2019) – The Stonehill College softball team fell twice to Northeast-10 Conference foe Pace University Sunday with scores of 6-2 and 4-1 on Pace Softball Field in New York.
Game 1: Stonehill 2 – Pace 6
The Setters' Annie Carberry accounted for four RBI of the six runs that crossed home plate. In the bottom of the second, Carberry broke open the game with a single that scored three runs on one out for a 3-0 lead. Arielle Acosta connected for her own single with two outs driving in Carberry from second for a fourth run, 4-0.
Stonehill cut the deficit to three, 4-1 in the top of the fourth as Sophie Perez (Bridgewater, Massachusetts/Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) doubled to left field scoring Julia Hartman (Salisbury, Massachusetts/Triton Regional) from second after her own double down the left field line. Pace put the lead back to four with a Carberry double scoring Briana Ryan from second in the bottom of the frame, 5-1.
Pace extended its lead to five, 6-1, in the bottom of the sixth as Jillian Gartner flew out to right field and Emma Carruth tagged up from third with one out. The Skyhawks were only able to put one more run on the board in the top of the seventh with last at bats as Cassie Holmgren flew out to right field with runners on second and third bringing home Genna Hartman (East Granby, Connecticut/East Granby), but the side was retired with a fly out to end the game.
Game 2: Stonehill 1 – Pace 4
Casey was one of three Skyhawks to notch multi-hit days
After falling behind early in the first game, Stonehill scored the first run in the second game in the top of the second on an error by the second baseman driving in Perez from second for a 1-0 lead.
Genna Hartman kept them from scoring for two-straight innings, before the Setters totaled four hits in the third and fourth innings scoring two runs in each frame coming back for a 4-1 advantage. Zoie Iverson doubled to center field with the bases loaded before Hartman retired the side in the third and then a single and a stolen base extended Pace's lead in the fourth.
In the final three innings, Hartman only gave up one hit in the fifth, while Pace's Emma Bernet gave up no hits to hold on for her second win on the mound.
Stonehill (3-11, 0-4 NE10) will face Bentley University for its first game of their three-game series on Tuesday, March 26 with a first pitch slated for 4 p.m. in Waltham, Massachusetts.
