Ringstad leads four double-winners for Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. (April 9, 2013) – Stonehill College opened the final week of the regular season with a 9-0 sweep of Post University in non-conference men's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Sophomores Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) and Thomas Alaimo (North Andover, Mass./Central Catholic), juniors Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and Brett Armstrong (Manville, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and freshman Philip Klados (Lake Forest, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) were all double-winners to lead Stonehill to the victory. Ringstad posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles over freshman Nicholas Tadros (Montreal, Quebec) after teaming up with senior Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien) for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.

Hyzak and Alaimo combined for an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles and then Hyzak cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 2 singles over sophomore Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt). Alaimo added a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles over freshman Jonathyn Young (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon). Armstrong and Klados teamed up for an 8-1 triumph at No. 3 doubles and then he blanked Post senior Mateus Garcia (Sao Laurenco, Brazil) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Klados also posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles over sophomore Dreshawn Lewis (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon). Sophomore Jared Drzal (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) also earned a point for the Skyhawks with his 6-2, 6-1 win over junior Danny Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y./Saint Joseph by the Sea) at No. 6 singles.

Stonehill (15-6, 6-1 NE-10) is back in action on Friday when it visits Southern New Hampshire University, ranked sixth in the East Region, for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at 3:30 p.m. The Skyhawks round out the regular season on Saturday as it hosts Merrimack College, ranked seventh in the region, for an NE-10 match on Senior Day at 11 a.m. Post (5-11, 1-3 CACC) visits Caldwell College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
