MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (January 11, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference matchup to Saint Anselm College Friday night at Sullivan Arena, as the Hawks scored two unanswered goals, 2-1, in the first game of the three-game series.

For Stonehill, (4-9-0, 1-5-0 NE10), Christopher Page scored his third goal of the season, while Michael Seibold chipped in his fourth assist of the season, while senior goaltender Billy Palmer recorded 30 saves in the game.

At the start of the first period, both teams looked to get on the board early, but neither was able to find a slot as both goaltenders held their ground. Midway through the frame, Page was called for the first penalty of the game, but the Skyhawks were able to kill the penalty and even bring the puck back to their offensive zone for a few shots themselves. A little more than a minute after the power play ended, Page slapped the dish at the cage from the wing at 14:50 for his third goal of the season and 10th of his career as Seibold dropped the pass off to Page collecting his 4th helper of the season and 11th of his career.

Stonehill was called for their second penalty of the game 49-seconds into the second period, and Saint Anselm quickly went to work to break down the Skyhawks' defense. The Hawks' Anthony Iacullo found Mike Ferraro in the left circle at 1:34 for the power play equalizer, 1-1. Trey Aiello skated down the left channel to slap the puck past Palmer at 6:46 for the Hawks' first lead of the game with assist from John Femia, 2-1. Both teams continued to work in their respective zones as the Hawks' once again outshot the Skyhawks 11-8.

The Skyhawks pulled Palmer with just under two minutes remaining in the game and the Hawks deflected a pass and took it into their offensive zone for a one-on-one situation but was ruled no goal. Stonehill called a timeout and saw only one shot in the final seconds of play, as Saint Anselm skated the puck down once more again for a shot wide of the cage.

Stonehill plays in its second game of the three-game series against the Saint Anselm College Hawks (9-8-1, 4-1-0 NE10) tomorrow, Saturday January 12 at Sullivan Arena with a 4:00 p.m. puck drop.
