Quigley Earns NE10 Rookie of the Week Honors

Medway, Massachusetts, freshman scored four of eight goals in 2-0 week

EASTON, Mass. (October 8, 2019) – Stonehill College freshman forward Mackenzie Quigley has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week in field hockey by the league office today.

Quigley scored four of Stonehill's eight goals in a 2-0 week. She posted her first career hat trick in Saturday's 4-2 comeback win at Saint Thomas Aquinas College, netting all three goals in the second half after the Skyhawks trailed 1-0 at the intermission. Quigley also potted a goal in Wednesday's 4-3 win at Molloy College, which erased a 1-0 first quarter deficit.

Quigley now leads Stonehill in scoring with 13 points through the first nine games of her collegiate career, having netted five goals to go with three assists. She ranks 14th among NE10 scoring leaders, ranking 12th in the Conference for assists, as her goal and assist totals are both second on the team.

Quigley, who dished out assists in a stretch of three of four games, has now scored at least a goal in three-straight contests for Stonehill. She assisted on the Skyhawks lone goal in an overtime loss at No. 8 Southern New Hampshire University on September 25, and set up the lone goal in a 1-0 double-overtime triumph against then seventh-ranked Assumption College on September 17. Quigley has started seven of Stonehill's nine games so far, netting her first career game winning goal at STAC on Saturday.

Stonehill (6-3, 6-1 NE10), ranked No. 10 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, is back on the field tomorrow, when it hosts fourth-ranked Saint Anselm College for a key NE10 matchup for its Purple and White Game at W.B. Mason Stadium at 3:30 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week at American International College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
