Daugherty hat trick leads Warriors to comeback win
Senior April Daugherty (Wakefield, R.I./Lincoln) scored three goals, including two in the final 7:22, to lead Merrimack to the win. Classmate Jamie Spano (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) and freshman Sydney Bowker (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) also added goals for the Warriors who trailed twice before coming back for good.
Senior Kerri Bergquist (Mashpee, Mass./Mashpee) posted ten saves in goal to give Merrimack the comeback chance. Shots finished even at 19 apiece, while Stonehill held a 9-8 edge for penalty corners. Sophomore Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) finished with nine stops in the Skyhawks cage.

Spano opened the scoring 4:40 into the contest with her first goal of the season as she took a pass from junior Candace Waldie (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) and fired a low drive from the top of the arc as Daugherty shielded Genovese on the play.
Stonehill answered with two goals in a 53-second span to take its first lead of the contest. Kelly knotted the match with her first goal of the afternoon by one-timing in a pass from the left side by junior Kelsey Davis (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) at 12:43. Ingersoll put the Skyhawks in front when she converted a penalty stroke at 13:36 for her team-leading ninth goal of the season. The lead was short-lived as Merrimack came right back and equalized at 14:38 with Daugherty knocking in a rebound for her first goal of the day.
Stonehill regained the lead nearly 17 minutes into the second half as Kelly one-timed a pass from sophomore Jennifer Foley (Holden, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) into the left side of the cage off a give and go at the top of the arc on a counter attack.
Merrimack leveled the contest again with 7:22 to play in regulation when Daugherty cut past a defender and scored her second of the game into the left side. Bowker put the Warriors back in front with her first collegiate goal at 67:00 with a tip in of a drive from the upper left corner of the arc by freshman Christine Zubkis (Dover, N.H./Dover). Daugherty added an insurance goal with a tremendous individual effort on the counter attack with a long carry down the center of the field before netting her 11th of the season to complete her hat trick with 53-seconds remaining.
Stonehill (5-6, 1-2 NE-10) is right back in action on Tuesday when it hosts American International College for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at 6 p.m. Merrimack (8-2, 2-1 NE-10) hosts Bentley University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
