Watertown, Mass., native earns first weekly award after collegiate debut
Kelly earns the award for the first time following her performance in her collegiate debut against Bloomsburg University, ranked No. 2 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II preseason poll, in Stonehill's season opener on Saturday. Kelly dished an assist for her first career point on the Skyhawks second goal of the contest.
Kelly has come off the bench in each of Stonehill's first two games and has totaled the one assist for a point early in her freshman season. She is a 2012 graduate of Watertown High School, where she was a two-time Boston Globe Scholastic Player of the Year. Kelly also earned Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors as a junior and senior and was a key part of three Massachusetts State Championship winning teams for the Raiders.
Stonehill (1-1, 0-0 NE-10) continues a busy opening week of the schedule on Thursday when it hosts Saint Anselm College for a non-conference matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 6 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week by hosting No. 9 East Stroudsburg University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
