McConville takes home a top-20 finish in the Nation
McConville competed in her first IHSA National Championship, finishing in the top 20 of the Cacchione Cup
SYRACUSE, New York (May 2, 2019) – The Stonehill College equestrian team sent junior Emma McConville to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship in Syracuse, New York at the New York State Fairgrounds for her first career appearance at Nationals on Friday.
Out of the 24 riders competing for the Cacchione Cup, McConville saw a top-20 finish as the Skyhawks' first competitor to compete in the National level since Emily Dolan '13 in 2013.
The North Attleboro, Massachusetts native competed against competitors from all over the nation, including Zone 1 competitor from Mount Holyoke College, Emma Recchi, who fell out of the top 20, and Mallory Slack from Long Island University – Post who finished just above McConville by one point.
The junior totaled 137 points, as she earned 67 points in phase I and 68 points in phase II.
The Skyhawks concluded the season with their 10th Regional title, with their last in 2012. They saw six qualify for Zone 1, Region 4 Championships, while five moved on to Zone 1 Championships along with the team and McConville also competed for a spot at Nationals.
