Stonehill Places Third at Wheaton Show



Pattie and Stachnik lead strong day on fences for Skyhawks

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (October 14, 2012) – Stonehill College posted a third place finish at the Wheaton College show, hosted by Phoenix Rising Horse Farm, on Saturday.

Stonehill used a strong day on the fences to record 32 points to finish behind winners Boston University (37 points) and second place Boston College (34). Senior Hanna Pattie (Newburyport, Mass./Brewster Academy) and junior Kristen Stachnik (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) led the Skyhawks strong fences day with blue ribbons in their intermediate equitation over fences classes. Freshman Casey Gross (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) collected Stonehill's remaining blue ribbon with a first place finish in her novice fences class.

Seniors Cassandra Lorusso (Wrentham, Mass./Dana Hall School) and Emily Dolan (Lacrosse, Wis./Aquinas) competed in open fences and flat. Lorusso placed second in her open fences class, while Dolan was third. Both placed fourth in their open flat class.

Junior Sara Kelly (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) was second for intermediate flat, while senior Martina Tramontozzi (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) finished third. Senior Samantha Lindquist (West Bridgewater, Mass./West Bridgewater) placed third in novice flat.

Stonehill has a week off before returning to action on Saturday, October 27, for the Boston University Show, hosted by Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover, Mass.
