Wilde tallies one of three RBI for the Skyhawks

EASTON, Massachusetts (April 2, 2019) – The Stonehill College baseball team was edged by Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University, 4-3, in the top of the ninth on Tuesday afternoon on Lou Gorman Field for the Skyhawks' home opener.
For the Skyhawks (12-15, 3-4 NE10), Matthew Rocco and William Kelleher tallied the only multi-hit at bats both swinging 2-for-4 with one run scored, as Rocco notched his fifth double of the season. Harrison Sabo, Aidan Wilde, and Thomas Quinn recorded the RBI on the day, while Michael Young tossed his third complete game of the season and fourth of his career.
Bentley (7-14, 4-2 NE10) saw Ryan Berardino with the lone multi-hit day swinging 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Four other batters recorded hits, as Jake Pierce and Christopher Butler tallied a RBI a piece. The trio of Evan Christopulos, Jimmy Hodgson, and Will Rossiter struck out 10 batters, as Rossiter recorded his second win of the season.
Both teams were scoreless and hitless through the first three innings, until Bentley connected for a hit and an error to put up two runs on the board. After a leadoff walk, Young was able to handle the next two batters with ease. Berardino came up to bat fourth in the inning and he roped a double to right center scoring Troiani from second, as Grover reached on an error in center field reaching third and advancing Berardino from second for a 2-0 advantage.
Stonehill did not go down without a fight and with runners on first and second and one out, Wilde singled to center field scoring Kelleher to cut the deficit to one, 2-1. Stonehill loaded the bases after a fielding error and with a two-out walk from Quinn, the Skyhawks tied the game, 2-2.

Young got out of the top of the fifth inning leaving no one on base, and Stonehill saw Rocco double down the right field line with one out, as Sabo was quick to bring him home on a deep sacrifice fly to center field for their first lead of the day, 3-2.
Bentley responded with a run of their own in the top of the sixth as Troiani led off with a triple to right field and Pierce grounded out to shortstop who was deep in the hole, tying the game at three, 3-3.
Stonehill saw one runner in the next four innings, as the Falcons kicked off the top of the ninth with a runner on first and second from back-to-back singles. With a third single, Bentley loaded the bases with one out and Butler flew out to left field for the game-winning RBI scoring Berardino who tagged up from third.
Stonehill is scheduled for an eight game home stand, as the Skyhawks welcome Southern Connecticut State University to Lou Gorman Field on Saturday, April 6 with a first pitch slated for noon.
