Skyhawks Snap Skid With 6-1 Win

Mitch Davis went 2-for-5 with a run scored from his leadoff spot in the 6-1 win over St. Rose.

Easton, Mass. - Stonehill got three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back, taking the first game of a doubleheader with St. Rose, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Skyhawks got a 3-for-3 performance from sophomore Ryan Healy (Lynn, Mass./Lynn English) who drove in two of the three first inning runs.

Nick SantaBarbara (Middleton, Mass.) went seven strong innings for Stonehill, allowing just a run on two hits while striking out five.

The Skyhawks totaled 11 hits, their most in six games, and didn't commit an error for the third straight contest. The win also snapped a four game losing streak and pushed Stonehill to 5-4 in the Northeast-10.

The Golden Knights got their lone run in the fifth when a pair of walks a sacrifice had runners on second and third. A groundout to third brought home Dominick Iaconis.

With the score 4-1, the Skyhawks got a pair of runs courtesy of two miscues by the Golden Knights. The bases were loaded when a St. Rose infielder played a ball between his legs allowing a run to score. Then another run scored on a balk by starting pitcher Jeremiah St. Louis.

Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H./Bow) and Shane Franz (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) each had two hits and Joey SantaBarbara (Middleton, Mass.) pitched two innings of three-hit relief.
