Football

Chris Palmer

Sophomore quarterback Jon Kaloyanides (Cranston, R.I.) threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns, all of which were hauled in by fellow sophomore Chris Palmer (Santa Barbara, Calif.), as Stonehill gave 24th-ranked C.W. Post all it could handle before dropping a 24-20 Northeast-10 Conference decision on Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.  Palmer garnered five receptions for 83 yards on the day for Head Coach Chris Woods's Skyhawks, as his three touchdowns came on passes of 14, 10 and 16 yards, as Stonehill drove deep into Pioneer territory late in the game but was unable to convert a fourth down chance with just over two minutes to play.  Junior J.J. Niamkey (Quincy, Mass.) led a solid Skyhawk defensive effort with eight total tackles, while senior co-captain Tony Pires (Taunton, Mass.) added seven tackles and a fumble recovery for Stonehill, which held C.W. Post scoreless in the second half.  The Skyhawks, 0-4 both overall and in Northeast-10 play, head to New Rochelle, N.Y. on Saturday, September 30th to take on Division I-AA foe Iona in a non-league contest that kicks off at 1:00 p.m.
