Stonehill's made its fifth appearance in
the NCAA Division II Championships on May 12th in suffering an 11-8
setback to eventual national champion C.W. Post in the 2007 national
semi-final round played at Spartan Field in Salem, Va. Head Coach
Michael Daly's Skyhawks
were undermanned due to injury, but Stonehill used an early second half
run to close to within a pair of goals at 8-6 with just over 20 minutes
remaining in the contest only to see the Pioneers take advantage of a
pair of turnovers to regain a four-goal lead in the final 10 minutes of
play to advance and claim their crown. Freshman Liza Gross (Loudonville, N.Y.)
capped her solid rookie campaign with a hat trick in the setback for
the Skyhawks, who also received a pair of goals from sophomore Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.) as
well as a goal and an assist from senior Tracey Hoffman (Nashua, N.H.).
Junior Amanda McGeachey (Saco,
Maine) made five saves in goal for Stonehill, which finished the year
at 18-2 overall, with both setbacks coming to C.W. Post by a total of
five goals. The Skyhawks will bring a 68-match Northeast-10
Conference winning streak into the 2008 season.

Seniors Tom Aldrich (New
Canaan, Conn.) and Adam Pardo
(Hanover, Mass.) each earned spots on the
2007 Northeast-10 second-team all-conference squad for their
performances for Head Coach Patrick
Boen's Skyhawks this spring. Pardo paced Stonehill at the
plate with a .353 batting average (the highest of any Skyhawk in the
wooden bat era of the Northeast-10) with eight doubles, two triples and
a team-leading 31 RBI and 14 stolen bases, while Aldrich earned a spot
on the all-Northeast-10 squad for the second straight season, as he
appeared in all 44 games as three different positions with a .242
batting average, as he recorded four doubles, one triple, 16 RBI, 11
stolen bases and a .984 fielding percentage while setting school and
conference single season marks in being hit by a pitch 24 times.
Both Pardo and Aldrich excelled in the classroom as well during the
season, as each were named to the 2007 Northeast-10 Baseball Academic
All-Conference team in a vote of the league's sports information
directors. A Political Science major at Stonehill, Pardo posted a 3.39
grade point average and also earned a spot on the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District second team squad as selected by the College Sports
Information Directors of America.
