April 8, 1990 - Phil Lecuyer put his name in Stonehill Baseball's record book.  During a doubleheader sweep of Wentworth, Lecuyer became the all-time Stonehill hit leader when he picked up his 123rd career hit.


Women's Lacrosse

Michelle Kelly

A pair of eight point performances from sophomore Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.) and freshman Liza Gross (Loudonville, N.Y.) helped third-ranked Stonehill clinch its ninth straight Northeast-10 Conference regular season title as Head Coach Michael Daly's Skyhawks wrapped up their seventh consecutive undefeated league regular season run with a 14-11 victory over rival Bentley Monday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.  Junior All-America Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y.) added a hat trick and a pair of assists in Stonehill's 68th straight Northeast-10 triumph, while freshman Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.) added a pair of tallies for the Skyhawks, who also received an assist off the stick of sophomore Michelle Salmon (East Islip, N.Y.).  Junior Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine) made eight saves to pick up her 16th win of the season in goal for Stonehill, which will take a 16-1 overall mark into this weekend's Northeast-10 Conference tournament that begins on Saturday afternoon when the top-seeded Skyhawks will face the winner of the quarterfinal round contest between fourth-seeded Bryant and fifth-seeded Merrimack in the first semi-final match of the 2007 championships at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Baseball

Chris Herrmann

Senior Adam Pardo's (Hanover, Mass.) third hit of the day, a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, lifted Stonehill to a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory and a sweep of a three-game league weekend of Saint Anselm Sunday afternoon at Gorman Field.  Senior Chris Herrmann (Chelmsford, Mass.) was simply brilliant on the mound for Head Coach Patrick Boen's Skyhawks, as he went the distance in scattering six hits and striking out nine to pick up the shutout triumph for Stonehill, which received four hits from Pardo and solid pitching performances from junior Mat Lindenmayer (Penfield, N.Y.) and senior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) in sweeping a twinbill from the aforementioned Hawks by scores of 9-2 in the opener and 7-4 in the nightcap Saturday afternoon in Manchester, N.H.  Stonehill, which stands at 18-22-1 overall and 10-16-1 in Northeast-10 play, hosts Southern New Hampshire in a league match-up on Wednesday afternoon at Gorman Field beginning at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Men's Tennis

Stonehill will serve as the host institution for the second straight season for the NCAA East Regional Championships this week on the Stonehill Courts, as Head Coach Peter Miller's Skyhawks are seeded eighth in this year's tournament and will square off with top-seeded Concordia (14-2) for the second time in as many years on Thursday afternoon in opening round play beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Stonehill brings a 15-5 overall mark into the NCAA Division II Championships for the second straight year as well and has earned its third berth in the tournament in the last four seasons.  The winner of the Stonehill-Concordia match will advance to second round action of the NCAA East Regionals to face the winner of Thursday's other first round match between fourth-seeded Assumption and fifth-seeded Dowling on Friday morning on the Stonehill Courts beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT.

Softball

Jaime Ippolito

Junior Jaime Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) rapped out three, including a three-run homer, and drove in four runs as Stonehill overcame an early 5-0 deficit to notch a 10-5 victory over Southern New Hampshire in the opening game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Gartland Field.  Junior Caitlin Flanagan (Cornwall, N.Y.) also belted a round-tripper for Head Coach Danielle Delude's Skyhawks, which also received a pair of hits off the bat of sophomore Kate Brides (West Bridgewater, Mass.) in the triumph.  Junior Danielle Mason (Salisbury, Mass.) pitched nine solid innings of relief in the twinbill for the hosts, which received six total hits from Ippolito on the afternoon.  Stonehill wrapped up its 2007 campaign on Monday afternoon in wild fashion, as the Skyhawks dropped a 14-13 12-inning decision to American International in the opener of a Northeast-10 doubleheader at Groff Field in Springfield, Mass. before battling to an 8-8 tie with the Yellow Jackets in the nightcap.  Junior Stephanie Folan (Glen Cove, N.Y.) rapped out five hits in the twinbill, while sophomore Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass.) belted her fifth homer of the spring for Stonehill, which ends the year at 13-24-1 overall and 12-15-1 in Northeast-10 play.

Outdoor Track & Field

Vinnie Williams
Several individuals posted solid performances for both Stonehill squads at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Providence, R.I., as senior Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) led the way on the men's side for Head Coach Karen Boen's Skyhawks by posting winning times in both the 100 (10.81) and 200 (21.73) meters.  Williams was also part of a pair of school record relay performances on the day, as he joined fellow seniors Brandon Beloin (Danielson, Conn.) and Derek Hebert (Rockland, Mass.) as well as junior Thomas Woods (Medfield, Mass.) with a winning time in the 4 X 400 with a mark of 3:19.63 while teaming up with junior Danny Richter (Bedford, Mass.) and sophomores Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and Tyler Guilmette (East Longmeadow, Mass.) for a second place time of 42.14 seconds.  On the women's side, senior Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) was the first Division II entrant across the line in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:40.95, while sophomore Kristina Coriarty (Brockton, Mass.) finished 10th in the race with a time of 4:46.95.  Both Stonehill squads will compete for their respective Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Saturday morning at UMass Lowell's Cushing Track in Lowell, Mass. beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

Friends Of Stonehill Athletics Golf Tournament
New Seabury Clubhouse

The Fifth Annual Friends of Stonehill Golf Tournament is set for Monday, June 25th on the Ocean Course at The Country Club of New Seabury in New Seabury, Massachusetts, with a shotgun start scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EDT.  Nicknamed "The Pebble Beach of the East", the Ocean Course offers spectacular views of Nantucket Sounds and Martha's Vineyard and was voted one of the top 50 courses in America by the ESPN Golf Guide.  The Friends of Stonehill Golf Tournament was established in 2003 to celebrate the athletic achievements of our student-athletes and to garner encouragement and financial support for their increasingly impressive athletic achievements.  Last year's event sold out, and spots in this year's field remain but are filling up quickly.  To reserve your spot in this year's event at $200 per individual or $800 per foursome, contact Associate Director of Athletics Brendan Sullivan at (508) 565-1667.
