October 4, 1993 - Women's soccer senior forward Anne O'Doherty tied a school record by nailing four goals in Stonehill's 5-2 victory over Bryant.  O'Doherty tied Lisa Cirillo's 1988 mark.  In addition to her four goals, Cirillo's single assist allowed her to retain the single-game points record.

Stonehill, ranked 16th nationally in the first WBCA Division II national poll of the regular season, split a pair of Northeast-10 Conference outings last week, as Head Coach Trisha Brown's Skyhawks posted a 68-50 league triumph over UMass Lowell at Merkert Gymnasium last Wednesday evening before suffering its first setback of the year on Saturday afternoon in dropping a 75-61 conference outing to Franklin Pierce at Keene State's Spaulding Gymnasium in Keene, N.H.  Senior co-captain Tiffany Huggins (Stoughton, Mass.) scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds in the UMass Lowell victory on Wednesday, as she was joined in double figures by senior Caitlin Kennedy (Baldwin, N.Y.), who netted 15 points, and junior Meghan Driscoll (Bridgewater, Mass.), who added her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Senior Kim Morast (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman Megan Methven (Corning, N.Y.) each scored 15 points in Saturday's setback to Franklin Pierce, while sophomore Bethany Tighe (North Easton, Mass.) added a double-double effort of 12 points and a career-best 12 rebounds after grabbing 10 caroms in the triumph over UMass Lowell.  Stonehill, which stands at 6-1 overall and 2-1 in Northeast-10 play, returns to action on Tuesday evening when the Skyhawks head to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption in a Northeast-10 outing at Laska Gymnasium beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Stonehill, ranked 25th in last week's NABC Division II national poll, dropped a pair of tough Northeast-10 Conference decisions last week, as Head Coach David McLaughlin's Skyhawks fell by a 75-74 final to UMass Lowell last Wednesday evening at Merkert Gymnasium before dropping a 78-70 decision to Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon at Keene State's Spaulding Gymnasium in Keene, N.H.  Freshman AJ Rudowitz (Monroe Township, N.J.) led four players in double figures with a career-high 21 points and seven boards against UMass Lowell, while senior co-captain Lance Clarke (Cambridge, Mass.) added 12 points for the hosts, who also received 11 points each from sophomore Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.) and freshman Nikola Stevanovic (Belgrade, Serbia).  Rudowitz and Clarke each scored 15 points in Saturday's setback at Franklin Pierce, while Stevanovic added 14 points and Smith chipped in with 12 points for Stonehill, which stands at 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Northeast-10 play.  The Skyhawks return to action on Tuesday evening when Stonehill travels to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption in a league outing at Laska Gymnasium that tips off at 7:30 p.m.

Stonehill dropped its fourth one goal decision of the season on Saturday evening with a 5-4 ECAC Northeast setback to Johnson & Wales at the Rhode Island Sports Center in Smithfield, R.I.  Sophomore captain Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.) netted a pair of power play goals and an assist for three points in the setback for Head Coach Scott Harlow's Skyhawks, which also received a pair of power play tallies off the stick of freshman Chris Rogers (Westford, Mass.).  Seniors Josh Green (Mendon, Mass.) and Matt Gorman (Southboro, Mass.) combined for 18 saves in goal for the visitors, who held a 42-23 edge in shots on goal for the contest.  Junior John Durkin (Scituate, Mass.) netted the lone marker in Stonehill's 9-1 ECAC Northeast setback to Curry last Wednesday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Arena, as the Skyhawks will take a 1-7 overall mark into their Northeast-10 Conference opener on Wednesday evening when Stonehill hosts Southern New Hampshire in a league contest at the Bridgewater Ice Arena that faces-off at 7:40 p.m.

Men's Indoor Track & Field

Three individuals combined for four top-four performances as Stonehill began its 2006-2007 campaign on Saturday afternoon at the non-scoring Northeastern Husky Winter Carnival at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.  Sophomore Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) set a school record in the 55 meters for Head Coach Karen Boen's Skyhawks, posting a time of 6.50 seconds to finish third in the event, while senior Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.67 seconds.  Senior Dana Burbank (North Andover, Mass.) placed second in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 4 inches and added a fourth place performance in the 55 meter high hurdles in a time of 7.91 seconds.  Stonehill heads to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday morning to compete at the Harvard Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Stonehill began its 2006-2007 schedule on Saturday afternoon by competing at the non-scoring Northeastern Husky Winter Carnival at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, as freshman Bridget DeVincent (Attleboro, Mass.) finished third for Head Coach Karen Boen's Skyhawks in the mile with a time of 5:18.97.  Sophomore Ashley Lane (Needham, Mass.) added a sixth place performance in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.72 for Stonehill, which returns to action on Saturday morning by heading to Cambridge, Mass. to compete at the Harvard Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.

All of Stonehill's remaining Northeast-10 Conference games can be accessed live via videocast through the Northeast-10's newest media venture, Northeast-10 TV.  The conference has partnered with videocasting company Penn Atlantic to provide a television quality picture via the internet so you can follow the Skyhawks in their quest for a pair of Northeast-10 titles this winter.  All games can be accessed for a fee of $6.99 through Northeast-10 TV, which can be found on the conference's web site at www.northeast10.org.  Audio for all remaining Northeast-10 home doubleheaders on Stonehill's schedule, plus a pair of conference road twinbills at Bryant and Bentley, will also be available at no charge through Stretch Internet.

Stonehill Basketball will once again be available on-line this season, as a total of 24 Skyhawk men's and women's regular season contests will be webcast at no charge via Stretch Internet, a service of Gilbert, Ariz., over the Official Athletics web site of Stonehill College, www.stonehillskyhawks.com.  Returning for the ninth season of calling the action of Skyhawk Basketball will be Charlie Bergeron, the voice of Stonehill Basketball and Football since 1998 who will provide play-by-play, and Brian Buckley, who will once again serve as the Skyhawks' color analyst.  The next Stonehill Basketball webcasts are set for Thursday, December 7th when the Skyhawks entertain Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Skyhawk Basketball will also be available via videocast for a nominal fee on the new television network of the Northeast-10 Conference, Northeast-10 TV.
