Stonehill continued its winning ways in
fine fashion last week, as the Skyhawks presented Head Coach Trisha Brown with her 100th career
victory last Tuesday evening by opening Northeast-10 Conference play
with a 66-42 league triumph over Southern New Hampshire at Merkert
Gymnasium. Freshman Megan
Methven (Corning, N.Y.) netted 18 points to lead three players
in double figures in that win, as senior Caitlin Kennedy (Baldwin, N.Y.)
added 13 points and eight rebounds while senior co-captain Tiffany Huggins (Stoughton, Mass.)
chipped in with 12 points and seven boards for Stonehill, which
connected on 11 three-pointers and forced 28 Penmen turnovers on the
night. The Skyhawks finished the holiday weekend in fine fashion
on Sunday afternoon, as Stonehill netted the second highest single-game
scoring total in school history with an 108-38 non-league victory over
Concordia as part of the 2006 Northeast-10/East Coast Conference
Challenge at Merkert Gymnasium. Methven led six players in double
figures with a career-high 18 points, while Kennedy and fellow senior Kim Morast (Bridgewater, Mass.) each
added 16 points for the hosts, who raced out to a 59-11 halftime

(New Milford, N.J.) and sophomore Bethany
Tighe (North Easton, Mass.) enjoyed career days with 13 points
each for the Skyhawks, who also received 10 points from junior Erika Stupinski (Topsham, Maine) and
eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists from junior Meghan Driscoll (Bridgewater,
Mass.). Stonehill shot 57 percent from the field and canned 15
three-pointers (the third highest single-game total in school history)
to improve to 5-0 overall on the season. The Skyhawks host UMass
Lowell in a Northeast-10 outing on Wednesday evening at Merkert
Gymnasium beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Stonehill notched a pair of
victories last week to post its third straight 3-0 start under Head

watch, as the Skyhawks opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a
thrilling 78-75 win over Southern New Hampshire last Monday evening at
Merkert Gymnasium before collecting a 72-55 non-league triumph over
Mercy last Wednesday evening at the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport,
Conn. Freshman AJ Rudowitz
(Monroe Township, N.J.) led four players in double figures with 15
points, including the go-ahead lay-in with 45 seconds remaining, and
seven rebounds in the league victory over the Penmen, while senior
co-captain Soap Toun
(Cranston, R.I.) added 14 points for the winners, who also received 13
points from senior co-captain Lance
Clarke (Somerville, Mass.). Freshman Randall Stallworth (Toms River,
N.J.) notched a double-double effort of 13 points and 10 assists in the
win for Stonehill, which also received a career-high 13 rebounds from
sophomore Colin Scanlon
(Centreville, Va.). Toun netted a career-high 19 points
Wednesday's triumph over Mercy, while Stallworth added a career-best 15
points to go with four assists for the Skyhawks, who also received a
double-double effort of 13 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.).
Stonehill takes its unbeaten mark into a Northeast-10 showdown with
UMass Lowell on Wednesday evening in a re-match of last year's NCAA
Northeast Regional championship game at Merkert Gymnasium beginning at
7:30 p.m.

Junior John Durkin (Scituate, Mass.) netted
a pair of goals, including a marker with 3:36 remaining in regulation
that forced an extra session, as Stonehill dropped its second straight
5-4 ECAC Northeast decision last Tuesday evening, this time to
Fitchburg State at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, Mass.
Fellow juniors Matt Curran
(Scarborough, Maine) and Anthony
Zanetti (Ludlow, Mass.) also tallied in the setback for Head
Coach Scott Harlow's Skyhawks, who also received assists off the sticks
of sophomores Paul Reissfelder
(Plymouth, Mass.) and Frank Amato
(West Springfield, Mass.) as well as freshman Zachary Cantin (Walpole, Mass.) and Mike Daraio (Harrison, N.Y.).
Senior Matt Gorman (Southboro,
Mass.) made 32 saves in goal for Stonehill, which fell to 1-5 overall
and 0-4 in ECAC Northeast play with the decision. The Skyhawks
return to action on Wednesday evening by hosting Curry in an ECAC
Northeast match-up at the Bridgewater Ice Arena that begins at 6:40 p.m.

The Skyhawks begin their
2006-2007 indoor schedule on Saturday morning by heading to Boston to
compete at the Northeastern Husky Winter Carnival at the Reggie Lewis
Center beginning at 10:00 a.m. Head Coach Karen Boen welcomes back a veteran
squad this winter, as Stonehill is looking to build upon a third place
finish at last year's Northeast-10 Conference Championships and will
serve once again as the host institution for the 2007 NCAA Division II
Indoor Track & Field Championships next March 9th and 10th at the
Reggie Lewis Center. Three Skyhawks earned all-Northeast-10 and
all-New England accolades last year while sending a fourth individual
to compete in the 5,000 meters at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships.

conference has partnered with videocasting company Penn Atlantic to
provide a television quality picture via the internet so you can follow
the Skyhawks in their quest for a pair of Northeast-10 titles this
winter. All games can be accessed for a fee of $6.99 through
Northeast-10 TV, which can be found on the conference's web site at www.northeast10.org.
Audio for all remaining Northeast-10 home doubleheaders on Stonehill's
schedule, plus a pair of conference road twinbills at Bryant and
Bentley, will also be available at no charge through Stretch Internet.

Returning for the ninth season of calling the action of Skyhawk
Basketball will be Charlie Bergeron,
the voice of Stonehill Basketball and Football since 1998 who will
provide play-by-play, and Brian
Buckley, who will once again serve as the Skyhawks' color
analyst. The first Stonehill Basketball webcasts of the new
season take place on Wednesday, November 29th when the Skyhawks
entertain UMass Lowell in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader
beginning at 5:30 p.m. Skyhawk Basketball will also be available
via videocast for a nominal fee on the new television network of the
Northeast-10 Conference, Northeast-10 TV.
