Stonehill opened the 2006-2007
by splitting a pair of non-league contests last week, as Head Coach Scott Harlow's Skyhawks opened the
year with a 7-3 triumph over Suffolk last Thursday evening at the
Bridgewater Ice Arena before dropping a 3-2 decision to Salve Regina on
Saturday afternoon in Portsmouth, R.I. Sophomore captain Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.)
netted a goal and four assists on the week for Stonehill, including a
marker and two helpers in the win over Suffolk, while sophomore Paul Reissfelder (Plymouth, Mass.)
also collected a goal and two assists in the victory over the Rams in
his Skyhawk debut. Senior Josh
Green picked up the win in goal for Stonehill in Thursday's
season-opener with an 18-save effort, as the hosts used a four-goal
second period outburst to take control of the contest. Junior
assistant captain Matt Curran
(Scarborough, Maine) tallies both goals in Saturday's setback at Salve
Regina, as senior Matt Gorman
(Southboro, Mass.) made 22 saves in net. Stonehill takes that 1-1
mark into its ECAC Northeast opener on Monday evening when the Skyhawks
host Plymouth State in a league outing at the Bridgewater Ice Arena
beginning at 7:10 p.m.
