Caitlin Gleason

Stonehill extended its winning streak to six straight with a pair of Northeast-10 Conference triumphs last week, as Head Coach Pam Arpe's fifth-ranked Skyhawks made an improbable comeback last Wednesday evening with two goals in the final 23 seconds of play in notching a 3-2 league victory over ninth-ranked Merrimack at Warrior Field in North Andover, Mass.  Junior Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.) netted the game-winner with no time remaining off a penalty corner after sophomore Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) had evened matters with just 23 seconds remaining in regulation off another penalty corner, as junior Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for the visitors with a pair of saves.  Gleason netted her 11th goal of the season in Saturday's 2-0 Northeast-10 victory over Franklin Pierce at Sodexho Field in Rindge, N.H., while senior Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass.) added a goal and an assist for the Skyhawks, who also received a pair of assists off the stick of senior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine) to cap Ryder's seventh shutout of the fall.  Stonehill, which stands at 13-3 overall and a half game in front of rival Bentley for first place in the Northeast-10 standings at 11-2, closes out its regular season road slate on Tuesday evening with a conference match-up against Bryant in Smithfield, R.I. that begins at 7:00 p.m.

Jeff Cuqua

Stonehill battled rival Bentley through three scoreless quarters of action on Saturday afternoon, but the host Falcons scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to post a 13-7 Northeast-10 Conference victory over Head Coach Chris Woods's Skyhawks at Bentley Field in Waltham, Mass.  Sophomore quarterback Jon Kaloyanides (Cranston, R.I.) hooked up with junior Dana Burris (Boston, Mass.) on a 25-yard touchdown pass with under two minutes remaining, and Stonehill got the ball back in the final 27 seconds of action but was unable to convert from midfield on the game's final play.  Kaloyanides threw for 155 yards to go with his score, while senior Paul Stone (Somerville, Mass.) hauled in a career-high eight receptions for 80 yards.  Sophomore Jeff Cuqua (Walpole, Mass.) was all over the defensive side of the field on the afternoon for the Skyhawks, as he recorded nine total tackles (six solo), forced three fumbles, recovered a pair of fumbles and posted a pass break-up.  Stonehill, which falls to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in Northeast-10 play with the setback, hosts Southern Connecticut in its Northeast-10 home finale next Saturday afternoon at W.B.
