Now in her 20th year at Stonehill, Karen Boen has brought the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs to national prominence with a resume unrivaled in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The 2016 season, brought Boen her eighth-cobnsecutive sweep of NE10 Championships and NCAA Division II East Regional Championship. Boen wrapped up the season by coaching two-time NE10 Champion and Runner of the Year Nicole Borofski '17. Borofski also finished as back-to-back champion at the East Regional Championship.

In 2013, Boen guided Stonehill to its fifth consecutive sweep of both the Northeast-10 and East Region Championships. Five Skyhawks earned All-NE-10 honors, and five student-athletes also claimed All-East Region accolades for their performances in Stonehill's first-place finish. Freshman Nicole Borofski was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year at the conclusion of the season as well.

For the first time in her storied career, Boen earned NE-10 Coach of the Year and East Region Coach of the Year honors on both the men's and women's sides, giving her four individual awards in 2013 in addition to the success of her teams. Senior captain Chelsea Bishop capped off Stonehill's 2013 campaign by becoming the fifth All-American performer in Stonehill women's cross country history following her 36th place finish at nationals in Spokane.

In 20 years at the helm of the women’s cross country program, Boen has led the team to 15 NE-10 championships and 14 NCAA Division II East Region titles, and the Skyhawks have qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships for 17 consecutive years. She has developed six women’s cross country All-Americans and over 80 All-Conference and All-Region honorees, and has coached the last four out of six NE-10 Rookies of the Year. Boen’s 14 NE-10 Coach of the Year awards are the most of any coach in the history of NE-10 cross country, and she has also earned NCAA Division II East Region Coach of the Year honors 12 times.

Boen’s teams have also excelled academically, making ten consecutive appearances on the NCAA Division II All-Academic Team, and consistently placing the majority of the team on the Stonehill Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
