North Easton, Mass. - Riding the wave of both a Northeast-10 Championships and a NCAA Northeast Regional title, the Stonehill cross country program's head west to Joplin, Mo. to compete in the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship on Saturday, November 17.

On the men's side, the Skyhawks enter the championship ranked 10th in the country and are paced by senior captain Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.) and freshman Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass.). Ryan, an All-New England and all-region honoree, was also named to the Northeast-10 First Team after finishing in fifth at the conference championship.

Gill, the Northeast-10's Freshman of the Year, finished sixth at the conference championship and seventh at the regional meet.

He will be joined by Matt Meagher (Mansfield, Mass.), Dickie Gerry (Bow, N.H.), Josh Andrews (Chelmsford, Mass.) and David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.).

Both Ryan and Metzger, have experience in national championship events, having placed 55th and 58th respectively in last year's event when the Skyhawks had their best finish in school history, placing 10th as a team.

Stonehill will get a boost from the return of senior Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass.) who will be appearing in his first meet of the year following injury. An All-American a season ago with a 27th place finish, he completed the 10K course in 30:26.6.

The women meanwhile, have junior Kristina Coriaty (Brockton, Mass.) and freshman Kelly O'Toole (Nashua, N.H.) leading the way. Similar to the men, the women return several runners who have all previously participated in the championship event. Leslie Clunie (Newburyport, Mass.), Jen Gardynski (Everett, Mass.) Andrea Topalis (Simsbury, Conn.), Jackie Oates (South Easton, Mass.) all ran in the 2006 event, with Clunie's 92nd finish the top amongst the returners.

For Coriaty, a first place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational kick started a season that has seen her earn first-team Northest-10 and all-region honors with a third place finishes at both the conference championship and the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.

O'Toole, just a freshman, joined Gardynski, Clunie and Coriaty as all-region selections, helping the Skyhawks win the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional for the seventh time in eight years.

The women's 6k race starts at 11:30 a.m. eastern, followed by the men at 12:30 p.m.
