December 19, 2005 - Sophomore Erika Stupinski dished out 15 assists in the Women's Basketball 84-63 win over Saginaw Valley State.  Stupinski's performance joined Chris Donovan (1985-86) and Denise West (1982-1983) as the College's single game assist leaders.

BOSTON, Mass.-- Both Stonehill cross country teams posted solid performances on Saturday afternoon at the 2005 New England Championships held at Franklin Park, as the men?s team placed ninth of 47 teams in the competition while the women?s squad finished 14th among 44 competitors.

Sophomore David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.) just missed earning all-New England honors on the men?s side for the Skyhawks, as he finished 17th individually with a time of 25:32 over the 8K layout. Sophomore Khalid Abdi (Brockton, Mass.) was next in 31st place with a time of 25:51, while sophomores Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Richard Gerry (Bow, N.H.) followed in 50th and 54th place, respectively, with times of 26:15 and 26:19. Stonehill finished second among Division II squads in the competition to UMass Lowell, as Brown took overall top team honors in the event.

On the women?s side, senior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) led the way for Stonehill by placing 24th individually with a time of 18:40 over the 5K layout, while senior Kaitlin Buckley (North Kingstown, R.I.) was next in 44th place with a time of 19:04. Juniors Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) and Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, Mass.) followed in 78th and 81st place, respectively, with times of 19:29 and 19:30, as the Skyhawks were the top Division II team in the competition. Boston University took the overall team title for the second straight year.

Both Stonehill squads return to action next Saturday afternoon when the Skyhawks head to Williamstown, Mass. to compete in the Williams Plansky Invitational, with the women?s race beginning at 12:15 p.m. followed by the men?s race at 1:00 p.m.
