Lee averaged 3.78 kills per set in a 2-0 week overall for Stonehill
EASTON, Mass. (November 8, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman middle blocker Meaghan Lee (Hanover, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career by the league office, it was announced earlier today.
Lee powered Stonehill to a 2-0 week overall posting 3.78 kills per set and a .491 hitting percentage in nine sets played. Lee led all players in kills in both matches putting down 18 kills on 27 swings in a 3-1 win over UMass Lowell for a .593 hitting percentage and 16 kills on 30 swings in a 3-2 win against Southern Connecticut for a .400 hitting percentage. Lee also added six block assists on the week.
Lee has helped the Skyhawks to a 26-5 record overall and 14-1 mark in the conference this season averaging 2.19 kills per set (fourth best on the team), 139 total kills, 30 blocks (four solo) and 12 digs. In NE-10 play this season, Lee ranks third overall in hitting percentage at .326.
Second-seeded Stonehill College, ranked fourth overall in the latest NCAA Division II East Regional Rankings, will participate in the NE-10 Women's Volleyball Championships for the second-straight season when the Skyhawks host seventh-seeded Southern Connecticut State University, ranked 10th overall in the NCAA Division II East Regional Rankings, at Merkert Gymnasium in first round action on Tuesday, November 8 at 7 p.m.
Stonehill enters the NE-10 Tournament one win shy of tying the program record for most wins in a season which was set in 1996 (27-8). The Skyhawks have not lost at home this season dropping just seven sets on the Merkert Gymnasium hardwood.
