April 12, 2006 - The Stonehill Women's Tennis team claimed their first outright Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season Championship in 14 years.  This honor, the College's fourth overall, came after the ladies swept a 9-0 dual-match decision from Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, N.H.

Beverly, Mass. - Stonehill dropped its sixth straight match, this one a 3-1 decision to host Endicott on Friday evening.

Early on in game one, the Skyhawks and Gulls exchanged points, but Endicott buckled down to take the opening game, 30-25.

Game two saw an early 7-7 tie turn into leads of 12-9, 15-11 and 23-17 before the Gulls put that game away, 30-22.

Stonehill showed resiliency in game three, jumping out to a 9-2 lead. Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) touched in a nifty drop shot, keeping the visitors in front, 15-10. Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) and Laura Noonan (Hampstead, N.H.) were key contributors as the Skyhawks closed out the Gulls in game three with a 30-24 victory.

Stonehill continued rolling in game four, taking the first five points, but the Gulls took the lead at 16-15 before taking the game 30-19 and the match 3-1.

The two teams went back-and-forth, with Endicott holding a narrow 16-15 lead. The Gulls blew it open as the Blue and Green capitalized on several Skyhawk miscues, increasing their lead to six. In the end, Endicott was simply too strong and took the game and the match, 30-19.

The Skyhawks were led by Masson's 17 kills while Noonan also played well upfront for the visitors, chipping in 10 kills. Michelle Jacques (Medfield, Mass.) paced the Stonehill defense with 19 digs while classmate Wirth dished out 38 assists.

Stonehill, now 6-18, return to action on Saturday when they travel to Post University for two matches.
