EASTON, Mass. (February 15, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 17-18, hosted by American International College at Smith College Indoor Track Facility in Northampton, Massachusetts.
The women are currently ranked No. 1 in this week's U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II East Regional Computer Rankings, while the men are placed third.
The women were selected by the NE10's 12 coaches to take first place recording 121 points and 11 first-place tallies. Southern Connecticut State University was voted second with 107 points and one first-place tally, as American International College rounded out the top three with 96 points. Assumption College and Merrimack College tied for fourth totaling 84 points each.
The women captured its fourth-straight NE10 Indoor Track and Field title last season with six All-Conference performances.
Two women student-athletes and one relay team bypassed NCAA provisional times this season, including Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) in the 800 meter, Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) in the mile, and Hannon, Caiazzi, Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), and Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) in the distance medley relay. Currently, the DMR ranks 21st in the division and first in the conference, while Caiazzi is ranked 34th overall and second in the conference and Hannon sits 39th overall and first in the conference.

In the field, Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) and Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) take on a very competitive task of placing in the shot put, as Lyons is ranked fourth and Farrell holds a steady seventh.
Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth) broke her own school record this season in the pentathlon with a total of 2,788 points at the Harvard Multi Meet and is currently ranked eighth among the competition.
