December 18, 1994 - Stonehill Men's Basketball defeated the UMass-Lowell River Hawks, 81-79, after a steal by Jamal Gomes followed by a desperation lay-up from Rajohn Odum with four seconds remaining.  Chris Butler scored 25 points to crack the 1,000 point barrier for his career.  Butler was the 23rd 1,000 point scorer in the College's history.

Boston, Mass. -The Stonehill women's distance Medley broke their own school record set earlier in the season by more than eight seconds, taking 18th place in the event with a time of 12:18.54 at the Valentine Inviational this weekend.

The DMR was made up of sophomore Lindsay Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine), freshmen Christen Carrier (Manchester, N.H.) and Susan O'Connell (East Greenwich, R.I.) and ancored by senior captain Kristina Coriaty (Brockton, Mass.).  Their time of 12:18.54 broke their own school record set on January 24 of this year by 8.05 seconds, and with the run provisionally qualified for nationals in the event.

Other good performances were put in by Lindsey Booth (Franklin, Mass.), who finished 22nd in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:06.39.  Also running well in other events were O'Connell and Pinkham, who took 26th (2:17.25) and 47th (2:19.0) respectively in the 800, recording the second and third fastest times in school history in the event.

Sophomore Anglea Miller (Brockton, Mass.) meanwhile, placed 41st in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.17 seconds qualifying her for the New England Championships. In the mile run, Coriaty took 48th (5:17.04), while Jenny Gardynski (Everett, Mass.) and Amanda Tripodi (Darien, Conn.) took 35th and 37th respectively in the 5000 meters. With their times of 18:28.51 and 18:31.27 they both qualified for the New England Championships.
