May 11, 2003 - Stonehill College claimed their first Women's Lacrosse NCAA National Championship defeating Longwood, 9-8.  Freshman Erin Acone scored three times and added an assist.

Worcetster, Mass. - Behind eight top performances and a new school record in the javelin the Skyhawks took fifth place at Holy Cross on Saturday. 

Freshman Erica Insel (Clinton, N.J.) finished third in the javelin and broke an eight year old school record with her toss of 121 feet three inches.  She also finished eighth in the shot put. In other throwing events, junior Meghan Rocha (Nashua, N.H.) took third in the discus.

Sophomore Colleen Carmen (Drexel Hill, Pa.) had the highest finish for a Skyhawk on the day as she took second in the high jump, going 4'11.75, while freshman Vlada Shelkova (Newington, Conn.) took third in the women's long jump with a distance of 17'2.25". 

Sophomore Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass.) was the lone Stonehill athlete with two top five finishes, as she took fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.98 seconds and followed it up with a fifth place performance in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.53 seconds.
