Seven Skyhawks team up to earn points on the courts
EASTON, Mass. (October 1, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, cruised to an 8-1 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action this afternoon.
Stonehill clinched the win following a sweep of the three doubles matches as it won three points by default. Seniors Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) and Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, Rhode Island/The Lincoln School) posted an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Nicole Downey (Groveland, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) and junior Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry, New Hampshire/Londonderry) rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and sophomores Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) and Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) each collected singles wins for Stonehill. Kump defeated American International junior Eleanna Fulop (Anixi-Attiki, Greece) 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while Barbetta rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3 singles against freshman Whitney McKay (Painted Post, New York/West). Prinos also won in straight sets without dropping a game against freshman Callie Porcher (Chuluota, Florida/Oviedo), 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
Senior Ana Paula Simoes (Nova Hambergo, Brazil) earned American International's lone point with a 6-4, 6-4 decision against Paradiso.
Stonehill (7-2, 5-1 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday when it visits Le Moyne College for a Northeast-10 match at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Wednesday, October 7, to host the University of New Haven at 3 p.m. American International (1-7, 1-7 NE-10) hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
