October 30, 2005 - Stonehill Field Hockey claimed their first ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship with a 2-1 victory led by sophomore Ali Boulis.  Boulis, the Tournament MVP, scored the game-winner in overtime as the sixth-ranked Skyhawks defeated third ranked UMass-Lowell.

Stonehill Advances to Regional Final With 5-2 Win Over Merrimack

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill Skyhawks advanced to their first NCAA Regional Final in school history with a 5-2 win over the Merrimack Warriors on Thursday afternoon in the Ames Sports Complex at Stonehill College. 

Merrimack finishes their season at 10-8  while Stonehill improves to 20-3 on the season, extending their school record for wins in a season. 

 The Skyhawks opened doubles play with two victories to grab a 2-1 lead.  The No. 1 duo of sophomore Lindsey Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) and  freshman Amy Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I.) beat the team of Caitlin Dunn and Amanda Carroll 8-2 while Stonehill are got a win from freshman Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass.) and sophomore Emily Broderick (Middlebury, Conn.) who defeated the team of Elise Dufour and Courtney Garvey 9-7. 

Merrimack's lone victory in doubles came in No. 2 as Stellina Saia and Cristina Lucin beat junior Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and freshman Leah White (East Walpole, Mass.) 8-5. 

In singles play the Warriors won at No. 2 as Lucin took down Toegemann 3-6, 6-0, however it wouldn't be enough as Stonehill took the final three matches to clinch the 5-2 victory. 

White won by a 6-1, 6-2 score at No. 3 against Amanda Carroll and Sarah Hickey has the Skyhawks second singles win, 6-2, 6-1 over Elise Dufour.  Stonehill's final win of the afternoon came to Herchel at No. 1 who beat Caitlin Dunn 6-1, 6-2. 

The Skyhawks return to action tomorrow when they square off against the winner of Queens (N.Y.) and St. Michael's at 11:00 a.m. for the right to play in the round of 16 at Rollins College next week.
