Toegemann Named NE-10 Player of the Week

Narragansett, R.I., native leads Skyhawks to 3-0 Conference start,
second place at Grass Court Doubles Invitational

EASTON, Mass. (October 6, 2009) - Stonehill College sophomore Amy Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for women's tennis this afternoon.

Toegemann earns Player of the Week honors from the NE-10 for the first time after posting a combined 8-1 record for Stonehill at No. 1 singles and doubles. She led the Skyhawks to a perfect 3-0 start in defense of its 2009 Northeast-10 Championship by posting a 2-1 singles mark with wins over Franklin Pierce University and the University New Haven to go with a 3-0 mark while teaming up with senior Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) at first doubles. The duo also led the Skyhawks to a second place finish at the Salve Regina Grass Court Doubles Invitational as they captured the A-flight championship at the event this past weekend.

Toegemann, who was a four-time NE-10 Freshman of the Week last season, has posted an 11-3 overall record in singles and doubles play so far this fall. She is 3-2 overall at No. 1 singles for the Skyhawks, including tournament play, while she has combined with Dircks to post an 8-1 doubles record, including a semifinal berth in the Wilson-ITA "B" Doubles bracket last month.

Toegemann, a first team All-Conference doubles and All-Rookie team performer last season, boasts a career singles record of 15-8 to go with a 28-3 record in doubles play.

Stonehill (3-0, 3-0 NE-10), winners of 15-straight NE-10 regular season dual matches, closes out its fall season tomorrow when it hosts Assumption College at 3 p.m.
