April 8, 1990 - Phil Lecuyer put his name in Stonehill Baseball's record book.  During a doubleheader sweep of Wentworth, Lecuyer became the all-time Stonehill hit leader when he picked up his 123rd career hit.


Women Win Third Straight, 8-1 over St. Rose

Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks (6-2, 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference) made it three-straight victories today with an 8-1 win over the Golden Knights of The College of Saint Rose (2-4, 1-4 Northeast-10 Conference).  Seniors Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) and Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J./Saint Rose) headlined the event - both improving to 7-1 overall in singles competition.

For the second consecutive contest the Skyhawk women swept doubles events.  Teammates Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) and Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) were victorious in first doubles competition, 8-6.  Rookie Lindsey Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) and Clark, a senior, earned a win as well, 8-5.  Freshman duo Caitlin Ryan (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) and Emily Broderick (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) won their second straight at third doubles, 8-1.

Singles competition went just as well for Skyhawks.  In addition to victories from Clark and Bleakney, the Purple and White were helped from a Ryan, a freshman, and Dirck, a sophomore - both won in straight sets.

The Golden Knight's lone win came from Rebecca Moon, a freshman.  She defeated Lindsey Herchel, 6-2, 6-3 in first singles competition.

The women travel to Bentley to take on the Falcons Wednesday night.  The match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
