February 18, 2008 - The Skyhawks won their third straight game behind a career milestone from junior captain Brendan O'Brien.  O'Brien's assist in the second period moved him into first place on Stonehill College's all-time list.  Brendan's record-breaking 82nd career assist came on the game-winning goal in their 4-1 win over Plymouth State.

Colchester, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College Women's Tennis team (13-5, 10-2 Northeast-10 Conference) clinched the two-seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament, with a 5-4 victory over the Stonehill College Skyhawks (15-5, 9-3 Northeast-10 Conference) on Sunday.  Senior Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) was able to keep her perfect Conference record in tact, however Stonehill falls to the four seed with the loss. 

Granato's superb regular season came to a close Sunday with a 2-0 day against Saint Michael's.  She started by teaming with sophomore Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) for a 9-8 win at first double.  From there Granato battled back to defeat Deahna Giguere at second doubles, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.  The win is the seniors' 15th straight.  Granato stands at 18-2 overall, a perfect 12-0 against Conference opponents. 

Stonehill received their other victories at first singles and fourth singles.  Freshman Lindsey Herchel took an early 6-0 lead over Lindsay Horne before Horne withdrew from the contest.  Senior Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J./Saint Rose) breezed by Michelle Wood, 6-1, 6-1, for her fifth straight win.  Clark finishes the regular season 16-2 overall, 9-1 in the NE-10. 

The fourth seeded women are set to host fifth seeded Merrimack College (10-7, 8-4 Northeast-10 Conference) in the Quarter Finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament.  The match is scheduled for April 23rd at 2:00 p.m.
