Women Come Up Short in 5-4 Loss
Kissimmee, Fla. - The Stonehill College Women's Tennis team (2-1, 0-0 Northeast-10 Conference) suffered their first loss of the spring season, 5-4 to Saint Cloud State University (7-0, 0-0 NCC) of Minnesota. The two teams split singles competition, however, it was the Saint Cloud Huskies that took a 2-1 advantage in double competition for the win.
Seniors Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J./Ward Melville) and Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) improved to 3-0 personally, with individual wins at fifth and sixth singles. Freshman Lindsey Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) claimed her third consecutive win as well, 6-1, 6-3 over Saint Cloud's Kim Lindblom.
The Skyhawks' lone doubles win came from freshman Emily Broderick (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) and Caitlin Ryan (Medfield, Mass./Medfield). They won 8-4 over Kim Lindblom and Alicia Wegman for their second doubles victory of the season.
