Women Win Fifth Straight, 6-3
Manchester, N.H. –
The Stonehill College Women’s Tennis team (11-3, 7-1
Northeast-10 Conference) claimed their fifth straight Northeast-10
Conference victory with a 5-3 win over the Southern New Hampshire
Penmen (4-4, 4-4 Northeast-10 Conference). The victory moves the
women into a tie for second place in the Conference standings, with
Bentley and Saint Michael’s, behind Bryant University in the
top spot.
Daniella Granato (Concord,
Mass./Concord-Carlisle) improved her perfect conference record to
8-0 with a win at second singles, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3. Granato later
teamed with Samantha Dircks
(Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) for an 8-5 win at first singles.
Dircks, a sophomore, was victorious as well at third singles, 6-1,
6-4 over SNHU’s Kristen Franco.
Elise Clark (Spring Lake,
N.J./Saint Rose) improved her singles record to a team-best 10-1
mark with a victory at third singles. Clark and freshman Lindsey Herchel (Hampden,
Mass./Minnechaug) earned a win at second doubles also, 8-2.
Stonehill’s sixth win came from senior Allison Bleankey (Lewistown,
Maine/Lewistown). Bleankey’s 6-2, 6-2 victory at fifth
singles brings her individual record to 11-2.
The women will compete for the third straight day against Suffolk
tomorrow. The match is scheduled for 3:30 PM at the Stonehill
Courts.
