October 17, 1998 - Running back Tyrone Jefferson tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns in Stonehill's 43-18 victory over Assumption College.  Jefferson's four scores matched a nine-year-old record held by Michael Strachan, who reached the end zone four times against Merrimack College.


Women Sweep Doubles Events for Tenth Victory

North Andover, Mass. – The Stonehill Women’s Tennis team (10-3, 6-1 Northeast-10 Conference) won their fourth straight match, defeating the Merrimack College Warriors (5-3, 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference), 7-2 Monday evening.

The women swept doubles competition on their to the 7-2 victory.  Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) and Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) got the ball rolling for the Skyhawks, defeating Stellina Saia and Amanda Carroll, 8-3.  Granato went on to claim her eighth straight win at second singles, defeating Saia 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.  Granato, a senior, is a perfect 7-0 in singles competition against NE-10 opponents.


Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J./St. Rose), Allison Bleankey (Lewistown, Maine/Lewistown) and Catie Ryan (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) each earned individual wins in singles competition as well.  Clark, a senior, improved her personal record to a team-best 10-1 with her win at fourth singles.  Ryan, a freshman, remained perfect in Conference action (7-0) with an 8-0 win over Brittany Holmes at sixth singles.

The women are right back to work tomorrow when they travel to Southern N.H. for another Northeast-10 showdown.  The match is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
