May 12, 2007 - Senior Dana DeIngenis set a school record for the Skyhawks in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:36.43.  She also earned all-New England accolades while competing in the New England Championships.


Skyhawks Sweep Dolphins in Home Opener

Easton, Mass. - The Women's Tennis team improved to 5-2 (1-0 Northeast-10 Conference) after handing a 9-0 sweep to the Le Moyne College Dolphins (2-7, 2-4 Northeast-10 Conference) Saturday afternoon inside the Sally Blair Ames Recreation Center.  The Skyhawks were led by seniors Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) and Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J./Saint Rose), who both won in straight sets to defeat the Dolphins

The Skyhawks started the event with a 3-0 sweep of doubles events.  Granato and teammate Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) defeated Le Moyne's Ally Cohen and Marielle Artessa , 8-1.  Clark and Lindsey Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) followed, winning 8-0.  Freshman duo Caitlin Ryan (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) and Emily Broderick (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) won as well, 8-0.

In singles action, both Clark and Ryan defeated their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.  Granato and Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) were victorious in their individual match ups, 6-1, 6-1. Dircks finished strong defeating Artessa, 6-3, 6-1.  Finally, in first singles, Herchel won by retirement, 7-5, 1-1 after Le Moyne's Allison Cohen suffered an injury.

The women are back to work tomorrow when they host the College of Saint Rose in another Northeast-10 match up.  Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
