Skyhawks Make It Two Straight against Aquinas
Kissimmee, Fla. - The Skyhawks (2-0, 0-0 NE-10) won five of their six singles matches to claim their second victory of the young season. A 6-3 victory over Aquinas College (0-2, 0-0) of Michigan came courtesy of a victory at first doubles as well.
Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) sparked the Skyhawks with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 come from behind victory. Freshman Lindsey Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) won her second straight as well, 6-1, 6-1 over Aquinas' Kelly Magee.
Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) claimed her second win of the 2008 at fourth singles, defeating Sarah Vangessel 7-5, 6-1. Dircks teamed with Granato for the first doubles victory, 8-6.
The Stonehill women return to action tomorrow when they play St. Cloud State.
