March 4, 1995 - The Women's Basketball Championship tournament Most Valuable Player Michelle Doonan scored 25 points to lead Stonehill to their fifth consecutive Northeast-10 Championship.  The win was Coach Paula Sullivan's 450th victory.  Sullivan also received Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time.


Bleakney Earns All-Academic Nod

Easton, Mass. - Senior Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) capped off her impressive year with a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Second Team.  Bleakney, an American History major, was one of three Skyhawk seniors to lead the Stonehill Women's Tennis team (16-6, 9-3 Northeast-10 Conference) to an appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals.   

Bleakney finished the year 16-4 overall, 9-3 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents.  She compiled an 11-3 mark at No. 5 Singles alone.  Her efforts resulted in her being named to the Northeast-10 Conference Third Team No. 5 Singles.   Bleakney finished with a career 41-11 record, including a 30-5 career mark against Northeast-10 opponents. 

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
