Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:
Stonehill: Stonehill claimed its first outright Northeast-10 regular season title in 14 years by completing an unbeaten league campaign Wednesday at Southern New Hampshire, as the Skyhawks gained the inside track to the crown last Tuesday by snapping Bryant's 35-match conference regular season winning streak with a 5-4 triumph in Smithfield. Stonehill trailed the Bulldogs 4-1 before rallying to win the final four singles matches in straight sets, including sophomore Daniella Granato's (Concord, Mass.) decisive contest at number five singles in a tie-breaker. Stonehill's title was its fourth regular season crown overall dating back to 1991. Wednesday's win at Southern New Hampshire enabled Stonehill to tie the school record for single-season victories first set in 1992 when the Skyhawks posted a perfect 15-0 mark en route to their last outright regular season crown. Stonehill Head Coach Pam Arpe picked up her second Northeast-10 title as a coach this academic year, as she also guided the Skyhawk field hockey team to the league tournament title in October. Granato posted a perfect 24-0 mark in singles and doubles play in conference regular season action, combining with senior Jennifer Arcabascio (Salem, N.H.) for a 12-0 record at #1 doubles after ending Bryant's winning skein at that same position. Senior Anna Walsh (Dennis, Mass.) also notched a perfect 12-0 mark in regular season league singles play, while sophomores Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J.) and Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine) were 11-1 in doubles action...
