EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) netted a hat trick and an assist for four points as top-ranked C.W. Post won the battle of the last two remaining unbeatens in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse play with a 7-5 victory over third-ranked Stonehill Friday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.

The two teams played to a 2-2 draw for the first 17-plus minutes of the contest before the visiting Pioneers (13-0) scored three straight markers, including a pair off the sticks of Napoli and senior Shannon Fabian (Rocky Point, N.Y.) just 15 seconds apart, to take a 5-2 lead with 7:40 remaining in the half. Freshman Liza Gross (Loudonville, N.Y.) pulled the host Skyhawks (15-1) back to within two with a goal that came with 5:20 remaining before intermission, but senior Lauren LoMonaco's (Massapequa, N.Y.) marker with 1:37 to play in the half staked C.W. Post to a 6-3 advantage at the break. A pair of Gross goals in the first 10:22 of the second half enabled Stonehill to close back to within 6-5, and the Skyhawks had a pair of chances to tie the match midway through the second half but were denied on turnovers, as Napoli completed her hat trick with 9:38 to play in the contest to close out the scoring for the Pioneers, who held the ball for most of the final four minutes of action.

Senior Colleen Agostinacchio (Bellmore, N.Y.) and sophomore Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) also chipped in with goals in the win for C.W. Post, which also received an assist off the stick of freshman Staci Passafiume (Port Jefferson, N.Y.). Gross's hat trick paced Stonehill in the scoring column, as the West Islip, N.Y. junior tandem of Christa LaRocco and Kristin Darrell also tallied in the setback for the Skyhawks, who received three assists off the stick of sophomore Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.) and a single helper from freshman Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.).

Junior Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) picked up her 13th win of the season in goal for C.W. Post with a 10-save effort, while junior Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine) made a pair of stops in net for Stonehill as the Skyhawks outshot the Pioneers by a 22-12 margin for the contest, including a 15-9 margin in shots on goal. The two squads, ranked 1-2 in NCAA North Region play, were tied for the lead in team defense nationally in Division II entering the contest, and both lived up to that billing, as C.W. Post committed 16 turnovers to Stonehill's 13 off pressure from both sides, as the two squads combined for nine failed clears in addition to only the 12 goals.

Stonehill hosts Bentley on Monday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m., as the winner will host next weekend's Northeast-10 Conference tournament as the top seed. C.W. Post hosts Franklin Pierce in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y. beginning at 3:00 p.m.
