March 31, 1981 - After a 24-5 season the year prior, Stonehill Baseball received top honors in the preseason coaches' poll.  The College's four first-place votes made them the favorites to capture the first-ever Northeast-7 Conference Championship.  However, Stonehill finished fifth with a 15-18 record.

Practice Makes Perfect: Skyhawks Nation’s Best From Foul Line
4/1/09
With the Division II Women’s Basketball season having come to a close, the NCAA released its final statistics for the 2008-09 season on Tuesday. Stonehill, which finished its season with a 22-9 overall record and a berth in the East Region Final, ended as the best free throw shooting team in the country at 83.1 percent. The mark is the highest ever for a women’s team in all of Division II and is the second highest of any women’s team in any division. North Dakota State set the all division record in 2007-08 with an 83.2 percentage. With 12 of 13 letterwinners returning led by two-time All-American Kelsey Simonds (Middleboro, Mass.), the Skyhawks should be one of the favorites to win the Northeast-10 in 2009-10. The Skyhawks ended its season ranked No. 22 in the final USA Today/ESPN Division II Poll.
Simonds Named Honorable Mention All-America
3/25/09
For the second consecutive season, Kelsey Simonds (Middleboro, Mass.) has been named to Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/State Farm National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team. The 10-member team was selected by an online vote of the selection committee. The committee is comprised of one representative from each of the eight geographical regions and a chairperson. “It is never an easy task to select just 10 players from hundreds as the best in Division II, but this group of 10 student-athletes made the job much easier,” said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. “Each one of these student-athletes has distinguished themselves above the rest, and we would like to honor them for their hard work.”
Skyhawks Come Up Short In Regional Championship, 78-54
3/16/09
Top-seeded Franklin Pierce opened the second half on a blistering 20-6 run to open up a commanding 19 point lead and never looked back, claiming its second straight NCAA East Region crown with a 78-54 win over third-seeded Stonehill on Monday evening at Holy Family University’s Campus Center. Franklin Pierce did a great deal of its damage from behind the arc going 12-for-22, including a 7-for-12 performance in the second half. Conversely, the Skyhawks struggled from three-point land, connecting on just two of their 13 attempts. Stonehill, which was making its fifth-ever appearance in a regional final, ends its season at 22-9, while the Ravens advance to the Elite Eight, which will take place next week in San Antonio, Texas.
