Russ Maier begins his first season at Stonehill as the assistant volleyball coach.
This marks a return to coaching for Maier who last coached at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2001.
During his five-year tenure as an assistant for the women's volleyball team at Eau Claire, the team compiled a record of 130-41 and was ranked as high as second in the nation, in 1997.
Maier also spent a season as an assistant varsity coach at Madison West High School in Madison, Wis.
Maier was an outside hitter and libero for Eau-Claire from
1999-2001 and graduated in 2001 with a degree in Criminal
Justice. He currently resides in Brockton, Mass.
