EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Jackie Foster (Arlington, Mass.) notched 16 kills as Stonehill presented Head Coach Brad Alexander with his 100th career victory by posting a 3-1 non-league college volleyball victory over Molloy Saturday afternoon by game scores of 26-30, 30-11, 30-19 and 30-26 at Merkert Gymnasium. The Skyhawks dropped a 3-0 non-league decision to Southern New Hampshire by game scores of 30-17, 30-28 and 30-19 in the nightcap of the tri-match, as the Penmen collected a 3-1 victory over Molloy in the middle match by scores of 30-25, 30-24, 26-30 and 30-16.
Sophomore Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) added 15 kills and 14 digs in the first match triumph for host Stonehill (1-8), which also received 11 kills from sophomore Heidi Woerner (North Kingstown, R.I.) as well as 10 kills and 13 digs from junior Rebekah Saunders (Gilford, N.H.). Freshman Kristen Hordern (Swansea, Mass.) added 46 set assists and 12 digs for the Skyhawks in the win.
Sophomore Brianna Doucet (Danville, N.H.) notched 23 kills and 39 digs in the two victories for Southern New Hampshire (5-4), including 18 kills and 27 digs against Molloy. Sophomore Jamie Rood (Southbury, Conn.) added 22 kills for the Penmen in the two matches (13 against Molloy), while junior Kelly Scanlon (East Providence, R.I.) posted a combined 53 set assists.
Junior Angela Barra (East Meadow, N.Y.) notched 15 kills in the two setbacks for Molloy (3-4), which also received 14 kills from senior Anne Dunphy (Carle Place, N.Y.). Senior Karen Quiambao (East Meadow, N.Y.) chipped in with 61 set assists for the Lions as well.
Stonehill hosts American International in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Wednesday evening at Merkert Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Southern New Hampshire heads to Rindge, N.H. on Wednesday evening to take on Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 outing at 7:00 p.m., while Molloy heads to Worcester, Mass. on Sunday afternoon for a non-league meeting with Assumption at Noon.
