May 24, 2003 - Three players from the Stonehill's 2003 Division II NCAA Championship team received Warrior/Lacrosse All-America accolades.  Collette Carpenter, who finished with 31 goals and 29 assists, earned Midfielder of the Year.  Carissa Medeiros claimed Goaltender of the Year for finishing with 133 goals allowed (6.17 GAA).  After scoring nine goals in the NCAA Championship tournament, freshman Erin Acone took Rookie of the Year honors.


Gill Collects Third 'Freshman of the Year' Honor

Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) finished his record season with more hardware than most athletes earn in a lifetime. Gill, a freshman, became Stonehill College’s first ever student to win the Northeast-10 Conference’s Freshman of the Year award three times in a single year. A three sport athlete, Gill received the Conference’s prestigious award for Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Indoor Track and Field and earlier this month for Men’s Outdoor Track and Field.
School Records Fall, All-New England Honors Roll In For Skyhawks

Several school records fell and even more Stonehill student-athletes earned All-New England status as the Skyhawks finished eighth overall (38 points) at the New England Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire over the weekend. The University of Rhode Island, which had four individual champions, took home the team title with 122 points, well ahead of second place Connecticut (79). Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.) put a cap on his excellent collegiate career, collecting All-New England honors in the 5000 meter run, finishing eighth with a time of 14:54.22.
Skyhawks Third At NE-10 Championships

Behind school-record setting performances from Russell Miranda and Thomas Kilby, Stonehill finished third at this year’s Northeast-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Bryant University. Southern Connecticut (229) won the team title while UMass-Lowell (144) was second and the Skyhawks (128) followed. Miranda’s 160-04 hammer throw was good for third at the event, which was won by Southern Connecticut’s John Brinley. Kilby won the javelin with his throw of 186-10, which was nearly 13 feet further than Southern Connecticut’s John Walsh.
