Boen and Gill Earn Regional Honors
Easton, Mass. - The track and field team added to their impressive season accolades today when Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) and Head Coach Karen Boen were named Regional Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectfully. The honors come just days before the two head to Minnesota State University to represent Stonehill College at the National Division II Indoor Track Championships.
Gill, a senior, became Stonehill College's first New England Indoor Champion after blazing his way to a first place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:24.73. The also time set a new school record in the event. Gill also finished the 1 Mile Run in 4:03.43 at the Boston University Valentine's Invitational (2/8) to claim the third fastest time in New England.
In addition to her most recent praise, Karen Boen, who serves as both the Men's and Women's Head Coach, was also named Northeast-10 Conference Co-Coach of the Year for her work with the men's team this season. Boen was named NE-10 Coach of the Year for the women, as well.
