May 5, 1990 - Sharon Birnie, a junior on the Stonehill College Equestrian team, became the first Stonehill student to ride in the intercollegiate national competition.  Birnie, who competed in Novice Jumping, placed second at both the regionals and zone competition to earn her spot at nationals.

2005-2006 (Sophomore): Garnered first place finish and set school record at Ekstrand Classic with a 155'00" Hammer throw... Finished seventh in Hammer Throw at Bryant Invitational (4/9)... Placed 6th in Weight Throw at Northeast-10 Championships (2/18)... Finished 22nd in Shot Put in Tufts Indoor Invitational #3 (2/5).

At West Warwick High School: Played four years of football and indoor and outdoor track... Named track captain his senior year... Third team all-Division in football... Member of Division II State Championship team.
