Brockton Enterprise: The Right Move
5/1/09 Her college softball career was all about making adjustments. Kate Brides of West Bridgewater had to adjust to a new school after transferring from Wheaton College to Stonehill College following her freshman year. The former three-sport athlete at West Bridgewater also had to adjust to a new position, making the switch from pitcher in high school to center fielder in college. Brides made smooth transitions in each case, moving right into the starting lineup at Stonehill as a sophomore in 2007. She developed into a reliable outfielder who rarely made an error and was the Skyhawks’ leading hitter this season. |

Brides and Sheehy Earn All-Conference Recognition
5/1/09 The Skyhawks weren’t able to make the playoffs, but seniors Kate Brides (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Meghan Sheehy (East Islip, N.Y.) were honored for their performances this season as they were named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Third-Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon. It marks the first time either player has earned All-Conference recognition in their career. Brides led Stonehill with a .328 batting average this season and a team high 45 hits including nine doubles. Sheehy has been a fixture in the Skyhawk infield, playing and starting in 153 games over four seasons. |

Skyhawks Playoff Chances Swept Away At Assumption
4/26/09 The Stonehill softball team needed to win one game in their doubleheader against Assumption to qualify for the NE-10 Tournament, however they lost a 2-1 in eight innings and then 3-1 decision in the second game to end any chances at postseason play. The Skyhawks finish the season their season at 13-27 and 13-15 in conference play. Stonehill had chances in both games, but was unable to come up with win. Senior Courtney Young hit her school record 13th homer of the season in the second game, extending her career record to 30 dingers. |
