Brides and Sheehy Earn All-Conference Recognition
Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks weren't able to make the playoffs, but seniors Kate Brides (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Meghan Sheehy (East Islip, N.Y.) were honored for their performances this season as they were named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Third-Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon.
It marks the first time either player has earned All-Conference recognition in their career.
Brides led Stonehill with a .328 batting average this season and a team high 45 hits including nine doubles. The senior outfielder also scored 17 runs, had 12 RBI and committed just one error in 55 chances in centerfield. She finished her career with 102 two hits and 21 doubles in just three seasons.
Sheehy has been a fixture in the Skyhawk infield, playing and starting in 153 games over four seasons. This year she hit a career .269 overall and bumped that average up to .301 in conference play. On offense she had 30 hits, five doubles and 14 RBI while her on defense she committed just four errors in a 159 chances at second base.
Stonehill graduates five players and returns ten letter-winners for next season, including six in the field and their four winningest pitchers from the 2008 season.
