May 17, 1985 - Senior Joe Kelly was named Northeast-8 Conference Baseball Player of the Year. Kelly, an outfielder, hit .392 with seven homeruns and 20 RBIs.  He also scored 39 runs, stole 14 bases, walked 25 times and was errorless in the field in 49 chances.  Stonehill, which captured both regular season and conference tournament crowns, dominated the first team roster with four players selected.


Ippolito Leads Skyhawks To Season-Opening Win

Kissimmee, Fla. - Senior Jamie Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) blasted a two-run homer in the first inning to catapult Stonehill to a 6-3 season-opening win over Minnesota State-Moorhead in 2008 Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla. on Sunday.

The Skyhawks (1-0) got 5.1 innings out of starter Danielle Mason (Salisbury, Mass.) who yielded five hits and three earned runs. Ippolito pitched the final 1.2 innings to collect the save.

After Moorhead tied the game with single runs in the second and third, Stonehill regained the lead via a walk, sacrifice and a MSM error.

The Skyhawks scored again in the top of the sixth when Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.) singled and was driven in on Caitlin Flanagan (Cornwall, N.Y.) double.

Stonehill put the game away with two runs coming in the top of the seventh. Ippolito doubled and Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass.) drew a walk and they both scored on RBI singles from Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) and Rappoli.
